Toy Home PSN Demo Review

Toy Home is a toy car driving game where you exclusively use SIXAXIS motion control... yes, it's one of those games.

First off, I'll start by saying, in theory it's a good concept and in practice it has potential to be a good concept.

It's colourful, it's got happy, upbeat pop rock music, it allows you to crash into a variety of other toys in order to rack up the points and the SIXAXIS control isn't bad.

The problem is that the SIXAXIS control isn't great either, trying to keep your car straight takes all the effort you can muster and turning corners is essentially impossible without using the power brake. Also, the "driving-through-checkpoints" thing is a bit dull.

This game had stunning potential and it's maybe let down by SIXAXIS control and may have been a job for the Wii remote, but I can imagine this PSN downloadable game would be full game on the Wii and wouldn't look as nice anyway. The point is, SIXAXIS is nowhere near refined enough to allow complete control. This is why Lair failed, but at least Toy Home is cheap and cheerful... well, cheap anyway.

I'm really struggling to find things to like or dislike about it, it's not that bad it's just not that good... if you like Lair, you might enjoy this as light entertainment.

In the end, it was promptly deleted from my Hard Drive.
